Play, school and home life
All our assessments are used to analyse how a child completes daily activities, the results of which will be used to create a therapy plan. We are able to assess sensory integration, handwriting, concentration, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, co-ordination and movement skills. This will enable us to determine the cause of the difficulties and offer advice on therapy plans, activities to complete and any modifications to each child's day in order to improve function.
We work with children who need support with getting back on track with a rehabilitation plan. Whether this is illness or surgery, we will work with your child to develop a plan to aim to restore previous levels of function. If this is not possible, we will develop strategies to work towards adapting to new ways of managing activities of daily living and minimise further deterioration.
Equipment & home safety
For many of us, our home is a part of our self-definition and a place where we feel at ease, assured and safe. There may be times in life where these feelings are compromised due to injury or ill health. Whether these changes are short term or long term, we will assess your child's needs combined with your environment to provide you with bespoke recommendations. These may include equipment, assistive technology or adaptations to the property.
Seating & posture
Postural care focuses on working with children who may be sitting or lying in a limited range of positions for extended periods of time. We can assess the seating and postural requirements of you child and advise on appropriate support/seating. In turn, this may lead to further benefits for your child including effective digestion, pressure relief, improved respiratory function, increased comfort, maximum function and independence.
Anxiety and worries
Everyone has feelings of anxiety at some point in their life. For example, your child may feel worried or anxious about starting a new school, social relationships or any other significant life event. During times like these, feeling anxious can be perfectly normal. But some children find it hard to control their worries. Their feelings of anxiety are more constant and can often affect their daily lives. We can help your child by identifying ways of managing these feelings by looking at management techniques and improved self-awareness skills.
Services for adults also available
We also have extensive skills and experience in working with adults and the elderly population. We have worked in hospitals, care homes and in community settings which have enabled us to provide a professional service to a broad range of individuals requiring Occupational Therapy input.
